Be Nice to Mice

Be nice to the mice family living within your walls
Wandering quietly, not as bothersome as a louse
Sneaking food to survive, though they left crumbs for you
It’s not much, but they thought it’d be kind to leave a few

They’ve tried to seem more than pests, offering a song
While you poison their food, they were singing “Le Festin” all along
They couldn’t, pushed away like a burden carried your chest
Not worth a breath, let alone sharing a heart with such unwanted guest

To you, they remained outsiders, undeserving and small
They’ve already grown used to your indifference, it’s their cost of it all
So try not to complain when no crumbs remain on the floor
As they quietly eat away the time before they soar
