The Storm

It stirs in my soul
The quiet turns to thunder
Echoing deep within my bones
I feel the ground tremble beneath my weight
The tension mounting until I can't hold on
And it takes everything

It rushes out
Unfiltered truth pours from my lips
Like lightning striking the heart of doubt
I couldn't set it right

Sirens will blare
But it's too late for redemption now
Sooner or later the storm will break,
I'll open my eyes
and search for the face of grace

In ruins carved from ash and billowing clouds
It's sink or swim
drowning in my thoughts
It's sink or swim
It chills my mind
But I feel it shatter

With just one wrong turn on a narrow path
And suddenly I'm the one who pleads
A desperate soul seeking faith
But I'll leave behind trails of crooked scars

Etched into the surface of salvation
I wish I could smooth them out
Till it all comes crashing down
Unfiltered truth pours from my lips
Like lightning striking the heart of doubt
I just couldn't set it right

Sirens will blare
But it's too late for redemption now
Sooner or later the storm will break
I'll open my eyes once more
