hidden tomes
drawing breath from a sigh
gentleness please release the still-life charcoal you dance to
quietly expressing your need
whispers turned inward is your expression
creating honest landscapes of grief
your sorrow the sunshine your sunflowers sing to
tiny lilting faith will you face the day in honest approval of yourself
an injured ego and shattered child
broken splinters your expression that failed to talk
in the dark of the shade, I catch you in a glimpse
walking the balance between reality and memory
you rise to the surface to take a breath
wallflower of strength
you prefer not to be known
your song is so sweet
is heartbroken in the refrain
your awkward melody plays loudly
I feel a drum at peace with my heartbeat
dwindling the days away little grace
touch the waters of the sacred pools
just a drop will leave a ripple announcing your presence
you seek sanctuary from the storm
hidden in my tomes
written in my diary of days
you only speak when your sadness peaks
I notice your shy smile
you'd rather talk to the trees
sentient beings who keep track of time
wondering with your soul about the book of life
so many visions of yours go unbidden
will you go on here
planting wildflowers leading the way home
