Desire

Ambiguity fills my mind with fear,
However aloofness appears,
Each day comes with a new task,
My perception distorts what I hear.

Rising and falling as with the sun,
Must I remain overwhelmed?
Losing battles before I’ve begun,
Scattered thoughts leave cognition overrun.

Failing to meet a mark,
My goals are fleeting,
Some days I lose my spark,
Immaturity portrays me as a lark.

Yet am I not human?
Flaws and quirks befall my character,
Seen as inferior because I’m a woman,
Mistakes lead to discrimination.

Conforming not to social cues,
Language is often misused,
I’ve often questioned myself,
Failing to find answers leaves me confused.

I dream of leaving,
No more conforming to society,
Drifting into the air,
Finding safety elsewhere.

How I yearn to flee,
When the weight becomes a burden,
Inhibiting my ability to see,
Oh, how I long to flee.
