In A Twisted Dream

Wading through my shallow existence
Crawling across the cold floor
Strange creature raised on persistence
Cowering behind a locked door

Selling off my heart a piece at a time
Unable to cope with the loss
Some wretched form of pantomime
On a stage covered by moss

Soldiers repelling from a helicopter
Gunfire lights up the sky
Reading lies from the teleprompter
Without any sort of alibi

Hunkered down inside a morgue
I’m my own meme
Mangled by some freaky cyborg
In a twisted dream
