Church Pew
I remember sitting in that church pew
Looking over at you
Single tear falling down your face
Never fully aware of what you were going through
And the pain you had to endure
I’m sure in a different time and place
Circumstances would be different
Don’t you feel like something is missing
From your heart
Because I feel the void in mine
Funny how your pain ran so deep that it became mine.
Now you’re gone and it’s fine
Still even with all these thoughts on my mind
I feel I can find the strength to forgive
But what if I can’t and I’m fooling myself
Then I guess it’s back to addictive ways
You know self destruction completely melt
Down the rabbit hole I go, can’t go back to that again
That’s no way to live kid
So I take a deep breath keep my head high and my fear low
Because just like you in that church pew
I can’t let this pain show
Looking over at you
Single tear falling down your face
Never fully aware of what you were going through
And the pain you had to endure
I’m sure in a different time and place
Circumstances would be different
Don’t you feel like something is missing
From your heart
Because I feel the void in mine
Funny how your pain ran so deep that it became mine.
Now you’re gone and it’s fine
Still even with all these thoughts on my mind
I feel I can find the strength to forgive
But what if I can’t and I’m fooling myself
Then I guess it’s back to addictive ways
You know self destruction completely melt
Down the rabbit hole I go, can’t go back to that again
That’s no way to live kid
So I take a deep breath keep my head high and my fear low
Because just like you in that church pew
I can’t let this pain show
