are we here?

are we here? Are we there?
are we anywhere
other than on our screens?

breathing air do we care
about anything else
except for mind's endless dreams

all the sounds which surround
everywhere we are found
are muffled by things in our ears

we're withdrawn, we've been torn
from the place we were born
reduced to our likes and our fears

just our thoughts and desires
blazing like fires
consuming us silently

as we stare anywhere
for a new screen to share
believing it can set us free

from our minds which define
what it us to decline
to slip away, disappear

like the air everywhere
which all of us share
sustaining invisibly...
