Love devoured

This heart
This soul
What was fire is now Ice cold
Have to sift through dirt to find the gold
Cost you nothing but the time you stole
My heart on a plate, my heart on a platter
Cuisine for a queen but you couldn’t look sadder
Used to eat my heart like it was your favorite food
Now we only come together to play family feud
I borrow the sorrow while I dine
A table for one that’ll be fine
Being your soul food made perfect sense
Now there’s too much dirty laundry to rinse
Say it’s all in my mind
Say eventually I’ll be fine, jus give it some time
On what planet and in what place?
In what galaxy and what space ?
Gave my body and heart like communion
Now alone on the cross in painful seclusion
I folded the hand because of the cards I was dealt
You don’t deserve this heart so I’ll eat it myself

Author's Note
My brother drew a picture of some of his emotions while he’s been dealing with a relationship and the illustration inspired this piece…
You can give yourself everyday and one day your not on the menu anymore
