In My Next Life

In My Next Life

This is
that day,

the apex
of the experience;

expecting other
than I got,

I experienced
otherness.

My life became a series
of self-conscious moments,

and I felt that
I was the other.

There was the me
on the outside

and the hidden,
inner me.

I lived,
in my way.

But,
in my next life,

I will expect nothing,
and nothing will change,

because the apex
of otherness

mirrors the life,
"alone, but never lonely."

Author's Note
Peace, in rope or bound otherwise, ends in negotiation when the addiction cycle is broken, addicted to the reactions and rationalizations that kept the addiction on line.

Letting go is cathartic. Holding on is toxic. Boundaries and balance.
