MELTING..Checkpoint..2/5
We decided to kill some time
Before the real party started
After shivers ran down my spine
We got in his car and departed
Even though we werent going far
I'm glad he volunteered to drive
Seeing so many shooting stars
We both were feeling super alive
Now up ahead in the near distance
We saw all these flashing lights
Its the cops was my paranoid insistence
And there's no way in hell I can act right
As my mind was racing with demise
The cars started slowing down ahead
And what to our miserable surprise
Not an accident but a checkpoint instead
But Dave looked over at me
And said don't worry I got this
I trusted how so confidently
He prepared for the upcoming word blitz
The cop approached our car now parked
And asked if we knew what was going on here
A moment of brilliance from Dave had sparked Which calmed my ultra paranoia and fears
"yes it's a checkpoint for sobriety
Just went through one last week"
I could not believe this was reality
And Dave grabbed the information sheet
Before the cop could respond his jaw dropped As Dave quickly accelerated away
We escaped the police and sobriety stop
And lived to tell this story another day
We finally got into the local town
And arrived at the early summer fair
With energy in my body now all around
There's still more to this story soon to share
