Another Trail
If I could
I’d surprise you with a journey
To trails of moss & fern
To evergreen woods
Places of my youth
Following babbling brooks to find
where trilliums hide
We’d mend our hearts beside
Blooms of bleeding hearts
Pucker our lips on lucky sourgrass
As we’d pluck & nibble their yellow buds
It wouldn’t matter
On which side the moss grows
Or what we discover over the hill
As we reach for hands long loved
Long missed
We’d stay awhile
In the cooling mist
Of those fairy woods
Our own fairytale
Memory
Someday I’ll take you there
If the world doesn’t burn
And if it does
We’ll fly our phoenix wings through the stars
To find another world
With trillium trails through fairy woods
Still standing
I’d surprise you with a journey
To trails of moss & fern
To evergreen woods
Places of my youth
Following babbling brooks to find
where trilliums hide
We’d mend our hearts beside
Blooms of bleeding hearts
Pucker our lips on lucky sourgrass
As we’d pluck & nibble their yellow buds
It wouldn’t matter
On which side the moss grows
Or what we discover over the hill
As we reach for hands long loved
Long missed
We’d stay awhile
In the cooling mist
Of those fairy woods
Our own fairytale
Memory
Someday I’ll take you there
If the world doesn’t burn
And if it does
We’ll fly our phoenix wings through the stars
To find another world
With trillium trails through fairy woods
Still standing
