Heart Song
my heart's sorrow sung honestly
my broken mind bore witness
it's a different face, same manipulation game
I'm sure you have the cure to rescue another lost soul and control her
you are sure in my eyes, to derail her
keep her from her goals
she will never see her daughter on your chosen path
not with you sidling up like a sidewinder and with you in the way
but what does it matter you prey on the weak
a dollar or two should do if you're hungry and homeless
with dollar signs in her eyes
and a false sense of security
she's everyone's girl and I can't wait to hear you're utterly broken
you stole my life and sidetracked me
you cheated every chance you got
starving me for affection and giving it to everyone else
and then gaslighting me
I am honest in the eyes
my heart betrays me
and even God hates me
for putting anyone above him on my altar of pain
my heart hurts and you blame me
your kids blame me for your lack of affection
because it's easy to inflict hurt onto me
and watch me burn
you can't melt ice colder than scauld
hell knows and utters it has a special place for me
I am loved, the heavens may be paved with gold
but it is too high an emotional price to pay for entry
