In Sexual Union

In sexual union, I find new significance.
As the object of a man’s desire, I feel
worthy of greater things in life.

Gone are the prudish expectations
of my childhood. Gone are the
boundaries my parents hoped
would guard my life.

I love my nakedness…and yours.
Let me dive into my future
uninhibited and without pretense.

Author's Note
Another poem from imagining my great-grandmother’s life as a young woman in Dallas, Texas. Ruth must have be flattered by the attention showered on her by Thomas.
