Let Me Dream
Allow me to bask into a deep slumber
please don't awake me
it's already bad enough
that the world has raped me
won't you let me live
in a private fantasy?
while laying in the comfort
of a beautiful canopy
don't interrupt me
just let me be
I don't wanna have to face
the reality behind the scenes
my heart only sees what I want it to see
you act like it's obscene
I am the author of the script
I wrote the lines now read between
put down your bow and arrow
and just let me dream
when I'm down I like to fly
freely into the light
I don't like to be kept in the dark
and caged up in fright
don't put me down because
I compliment your beauty
by blinding me with visions of a person
opposite of what I do see
I mean what do you expect me to say
this isn't an act we're not in a play
I don't wanna have to face

this song is such beautiful, and it made me cry, It has such deep meaning, and it really touches me, As i understand the pain behind it.

This poem is good but redundant.
It would be more effective if it was half the length as you keep repeating things over and over again....which is sometimes EFFECTIVE in poetry and sometimes is NOT...so rewrite it...you have left it long enough so you can see it more clearly that when you first wrote it and try to condense it without losing the basic parts of the poem...which show the potential that you have.
