Khione
From movement and ice, you sprang
Propagated by the maelstrom
Whipping shards of jagged glass
Reflecting bleached landscapes back at you
Prints covered as soon as they are made on the trek from the summit
To the peak
As what waits there is guarded by unspeakable wrath
Cold and detached from the colors it protects
Bolstered by a families never ending push downwards
Off the peaks
Into the sea
You dive deep
Deeper than most have dared to go
Deep enough that the light is lost and the pressure forces a chill into your skin
Conditioned by the birth of direction you are undeterred
And when you emerge it is on a mountain
Equally frozen yet covered in shining dew
Which collects, rolling in rage and fury
Lifetimes and lifetimes
Stored deep within
Each a contained hailstorm
Held together by thin brittle membranes
My mouth falls open in awe of your creation
The prevention of growth and preservation of stillness
Erie calm is laid across the new formation
Tucking it in into its first night of living
With the dusk comes the petals of crocus
Purple and swollen with frosted light
One of their petals lands on my tongue and burns it
Leaving flaked black spots wherever it touches
Yet I cannot help but consume
The awful brilliance of light
Gulping the sharp freezing air as if it were still water
Yet it only serves to sever what is already breaking
The sun cannot hold you
It cannot back you into a corner and siphon
Away the immaculate Oreithyian dust you have left settled on your belongings
As if they are ancient and immovable
Rooting the frost deep within the earth you have become unshakable
Unenterable
You cannot be swept
On sandals nor snakes nor wings of messengers nor stones rolled down the path
The billowing white which surrounds you permeates into the bones of all
Who dare to stand within the wind blowing unrelenting
Freezing all in its path
Down the mountain
And out to the sea
Propagated by the maelstrom
Whipping shards of jagged glass
Reflecting bleached landscapes back at you
Prints covered as soon as they are made on the trek from the summit
To the peak
