keeper of shattered dreams

 
if you listen closely on a starless night
when chalked silhouettes caress forest floors
drifting listlessly
hopes without form
you can hear her liquid lamentations
murmur softly across gentle winds
as foxes burrow in restless slumber within their hollow dens
and screech owls raise glimmering eyes to ebon expanse
wings tucked tight against feathered sides
talons dug firmly into ancient bark
silent in their reverence
honoring her eternal sorrow
draped with shimmering silver broken dreams
she shelters the fallen within her bosom
a platinum heart filled to breaking
haunted by the pain of others
all those wishes upon shooting stars
never having come to fruition
she cradles them
unforgotten
and as evening fades into warming sun
her voice becomes muffled
covered by awakening bustle & cheerful birdsong
I know...will always remember
when my spirit trembles
worn threadbare by fatigue
she holds me & my shuddering weeping
safe within her blessed keeping
as mo{u}rning streaks across lightening skies
