How can I tell you,
how I am
When you ask, “How are you”
or
“How has it been”
When everything often feels dark around me,
There is no easy answer for it,
If I were to answer truthfully,
honestly about everything,
Your mind would be raped,
Afraid to ask me ever again
So, I put forth mine best smile
The only smile I can muster,
Sayin, “alright”
Before quickly turning the subject to you,
And how you have been
So we do not need to talk about me;
Indeed, still waters can run deep
