silent expressions

tell me you love me
without saying a word
in gestures & expressions
that can never be heard
the way you gather my hair
finger-combing the tangles
lifting the whole mess
pressing your lips to my neck
it's not the kiss
you understand
it's the gift of your breath
your scent still lingering
long after your fingers leave
as intoxicating to me
as your burning caress
when we're watching a movie
my head on your shoulder
lovers on the screen
pouring their hearts out to each other
and you look over
a soft smile lighting your eyes
looking directly into mine
then kiss the top of my head
book loosely held in my hands
snuggled into the corner of the sofa
sound asleep
as you quietly get up
tenderly tucking a blanket around me
turning down the TV
pulling my legs into your lap
gently massaging my feet
paused in passionate motion
as you gaze down at me
unmoving
wearing your emotions like a tattoo
inked gloriously all over you
slowing things down
but keeping it deep
every stroke & caress
given with intent
never once looking away
think of all the ways
you silently say
you love me

I had scraps of poetry & full poems written before I left & stopped writing a few years back. I'm slowly discovering them now. It's been a journey. Thank you so much!

This was set up in a formatting style I used to use. I thought about changing it but in the end posted exactly as I'd originally set it up. Thank you so much!
