Misunderstood

It's really hard to wear a smile
when inside
your heart cries
the pain you feel
overshadowed on the outside.

It's not easy being strong
when you can't breathe
gasping for air
hanging on to life
not giving up the fight.

Why wear a crown
and not a frown?
Why not just cry
when all around you are lies?
The truth undefined.

Smiles hide a lot,
a misleading disguise
that tells a false tale
of happiness
though inside you feel like dying.

A sincere smile
can heal a wounded heart,
but a heart scarred
will steal your smile

It's much easier
to hide,
or just die
than go around
wearing a lie,
but no matter what,
just smile.
