I don’t believe
That there is any need for the bible
For the countless books written about the bible
For the countless hours of preachers trying to explain its message
What is there to explain?
Is it not clear enough?
“Love your neighbor as yourself”
If you do acts of kindness and love
Then you do the work of god
I am not saying it is easy
But why does it need to be explained?
But why is this commandment not enough?
Why is a preacher, or the pope, or any “holy” man or woman
Supposed to know more about this than you or me?
The whole bible can be reduced to one sentence
And if you do not follow this commandment then all the rituals
All the theology, all the services, all the speeches
Mean absolutely lovely nothing at all
You do not glorify god by singing songs about him
Or showing of old men in parades
Or letting someone who can barely stand on his own give a speech
You glorify god by doing his work

Author's Note
Someone once asked me if I believe you can be a Christian without calling yourself that. I think the answer is yes. If you follow the commandment Christ gave, then you are a follower of Christ. You are a Christian. Formal religious doctrines do not matter. What you call yourself doesn’t matter. If you do acts following his commandment you follow him. Even if you believe in god doesn’t matter. I am a firm believer that when it comes to guiding us in our lifes, simple things are best. And what could be simpler than that one sentence he gave us?
