Death of a Friend

She was often sad but always a loyal friend to me. Many brought her smiles of acceptance and love only to be turned away in the end.

She fell into a world of pleasures and offered herself to many; offers that weren’t refused. The weight of her sadness overshadowed moments of joy.

As days passed, her laughter grew quieter, and her eyes fainter. In the end, she took control of her life by ending it and the world continued to turn.

I remember the smell and taste of her.
I miss my friend.
She still lives in my memory.

Author's Note
I recently learned that a friend from college committed suicide last month. She was one of the few girls I've been intimate with and now I feel guilty that we didn't say in touch after graduation. Pic is from a few years ago. She's wearing the yellow dress.
