Love isn't a Geocache
Love isn't a geocache.
It's not hiding
under a park bench
or inside a mailbox on a mountain
It doesn't shoot you with a bow and arrow
or grant your wishes
from a fountain.
There are no fairy god mothers
or princes
riding in on white horses.
It's not in the self-help section
at the book store,
or God-forbid the library
between the pages of denial
and self-sabotage.
or on wikepedia
written by anonymous sources.
It's not in the stars,
even shooting ones
traveling between venus and mars
becoming the scapegoat for your problems;
the ones you've been hiding
pushed to the back
of your sock drawer.
It's not loading on a web browser
with single moms
looking to pay their way through college,
or the missed connections
on Craigslist
from someone who saw you
shopping in the produce aisle.
Love isn't going anywhere,
hasn't disappeared,
so why is everyone searching for it,
like it's lost?
When I lose something,
I start in the last place I saw it.
As for love,
I would start with myself.
