Awaiting Destruction
We all know we will die
We all know our life can change
In the blink of an eye
And sometimes we fall into the seduction
Of awaiting destruction
Those days when we sit there worrying
Without it leading anywhere
Those days we spend hurrying
To nowhere
It’s out of fear
That something might go wrong
That something we hold dear
Might become
Lost and gone
And tightly we hold on
Still caught in the seduction
Of awaiting destruction
But I refuse to walk this path any longer
Yes, each day may bring the end
But I’ve become stronger
And by embracing impermanence
I begin to ascend
To where I do not know
Only time will show
But with everything I have
I will resist the seduction
Of wasting my life
By awaiting destruction
We all know our life can change
In the blink of an eye
And sometimes we fall into the seduction
Of awaiting destruction
Those days when we sit there worrying
Without it leading anywhere
Those days we spend hurrying
To nowhere
It’s out of fear
That something might go wrong
That something we hold dear
Might become
Lost and gone
And tightly we hold on
Still caught in the seduction
Of awaiting destruction
But I refuse to walk this path any longer
Yes, each day may bring the end
But I’ve become stronger
And by embracing impermanence
I begin to ascend
To where I do not know
Only time will show
But with everything I have
I will resist the seduction
Of wasting my life
By awaiting destruction
