Getting Published

 
Across the fence
in the backyard
two poet neighbours
were shooting the breeze

I'm a better writer
than you are,
the first poet said
 
It's because my work
is honest
and I only write the truth
which is why I
get published and you don't

It's because you only invent
you're a stranger to reality 
just a juggler with words

The second poet
said nothing
he scratched his head
went indoors
and wrote a poem
called "Murder"

The next day his neighbour
was found dead
and a week later
the poem (his first)
got published
