Unraveling Panic

Pressurized contents
                               squeeze

Putting mind on                    pause

One last stab
               at the bubble
                          of reality

One thought
                 beyond

And sanity
               skitters
                               under the sofa

A frightened creature

Separate of                         self

No amount of cajoling
                        can recall                it

World freezes
                as time
                           marches on

Clock accusations awaiting

Opening panicked eyes
          to hours gone
