Deep Within Me
If you could look deep within me
You'd only see deep wounds and scars
Cuts and abrasions, some new, some old
Each one has a story to be told
You'd be able to tell where each time one started to heal
A fresh one formed, or a previous one sliced open
Each time the process starting over
Never getting closure
If you could look deep within me
You'd see a light once so bright, now dimmed and dark
You'd be able to tell where the light once burning, was blown out
You'd know at one time I was full of happiness
But each battle I went through took it away bit by bit
Now there's only shattered pieces
If you could look deep within me
You'd see someone who was once full of hope and positivity
Now left with a broken spirit and most of the time feeling hopeless
You'd see a soul that once was alive, now dead and silent
If you could look deep within me
You'd see a girl who was once a fighter
Has slowly started to accept her defeat
You would see each time she tried to stand
She was trampled, and knocked back down
You would see a girl who has realised she can't win
She has not much of a fight left, she now only exist
If you could look deep within me
You'd find a girl who once loved life
Who was full of hope and positivity
Now has no will, no strength, no ability
She now sits and stares at death in it's face
Contemplating her fate
If you could look deep within me
You'd know I feel hurt, I feel broken, I feel alone
I feel empty, worthless, no reason to go on
But you only see me on the outside
Oblivious to all that is hidden
You see the smiles, you hear the laughs
You get the sarcasm, and the humor
But it's only a picture painted to look perfect
A cover for each bruise and wound
Hiding all the pain and the mental struggle
A picture covering the truth
From the outside you think my lifes picture is worth a million
But if you could see deep within me
You'd realise what is shown on the outside, isn't the same as inside
And looks can be so decieving
Underneath it's been scarred, damaged, bruised, broken & sewn
It really isn't worth a penny
You'd only see deep wounds and scars
Cuts and abrasions, some new, some old
Each one has a story to be told
You'd be able to tell where each time one started to heal
A fresh one formed, or a previous one sliced open
Each time the process starting over
