solitude

"I never found the companion that was so
companionable as solitude."―Henry David Thoreau

my thoughts and i alone―
a handsome company!
a reasoning beyond
the menace of the crowd.
for when good sense has bowed,
and silent voices bond,
therein am i set free,
as darkness i postpone.
