Young Love
When I think about you
I think about dads blue F150
And Zac Brown Band CHICKEN FRIED blasting on repeat
Those winding Georgia roads
A little sick and a little in love
We begged our parents for $300 and some alone time
Yours said yes way quicker than mine
Betsy convinced Penny and of course she agreed
10 hours on the road with hands gripped
Together on laps and faces on faces
We became adults in those 3 days alone
To the grocery store we went
“Lets make the perfect grilled cheese” you said
Damn you knew how much I loved them
This was your love language to me
In your bed every weekend morning
It was cold but we had our young warmth
Tacky firewood and hard labor
We struggled but laughed as the fire erupted
Our cabin had a waterfall stream we explored
And got lost and skipped stones
I stared at you in the dull reflection
You smiled like this was a 5 star resort
We were so naive yet we thought this would last forever
My first love, we may not have weathered
the degrees and the distance.
But we will always have our Georgia cabin and our big kid adventures
