Green-Eyed Monster
Caged and controlled
There you sit in that chair
And you can't help but wonder
What are they doing in there?
You’re afraid to know
Afraid to see
Afraid to walk by that room
Even though you really have to pee.
Keep that monster in check
With green eyes ablaze it prepares to spew venom
Or maybe that’s just your diner
Don't get sick
Don't allow it to happen
The monster don't care
You feel it coming
So you run to the bathroom
You’re hacking and gagging
Cause an alarm
And in the doorway she stands
Asking if something is wrong
No Baby, please go back to bed
Green eyes still ablaze
It rears its ugly head
Words spew out just as easy as vomit
Full of hate and allegations
And as it speaks
You see her anger begin to build
Shut up, shut up, for the love of god
SHUT UP!!!
You can't close your mouth
Can't take back what the monster said
When you’re done
The monster goes to bed
You know you've done wrong
She looks at you
Like the insect you are
No use in explaining
She'd never understand
Stand up tall
As tall as you can
The monster isn't there to help you
Keep your spine straight
Take a deep breath and prepare yourself
You know this is going to hurt
Then she says the words that hurt the most
"You're just like him"
She turns and leaves
The sad truth is, yeah you are
More than you want to admit
Well your heart is hurting
But your pride is what’s keeping you up right.
So you clean up your mess
And take your piss
It’s an unspoken understanding
You’re not sleeping in the bed tonight
Don't have enough nerve to ask for a blanket
So you find your thick coat
And go back to your chair
You wonder
How long will you be there?
Maybe tomorrow night?
And even the one after that?
Your pride crumbles
And since nobody is there to see
You let lose the tears
As you curl up to sleep
You’re reminded of the promise
The promise that the monster
Wouldn’t allow you to keep
There you sit in that chair
And you can't help but wonder
What are they doing in there?
You’re afraid to know
Afraid to see
Afraid to walk by that room
Even though you really have to pee.
Keep that monster in check
