Hey dad...

Since I was little,
You haven't been around,
Something to fill the void,
I haven't found.

But I guess,
I should thank you,
For showing me,
Exactly what not to do.

Your absence,
Made me who I am,
I look back sometimes,
And think "damn."

You're the reason,
I won't drink,
You would so much,
You couldn't think.

You're the original reason,
I had the pain to write,
You were the first,
To make me lye awake at night.

I must say,
These words are still painful,
But I'm no longer angry,
I'm thankful.

Hey dad,
Just wanted to thank you,
For all the things,
You didn't do.
