Missing you

Were you listening to a “somewhere” song
With drifting mind whispering thoughts
Carried on the breeze into my heart of missing?
The lyrics sang in notes of hope to me so suddenly
I missed you too

I miss you now…
And mid-afternoon…
and all the times between my wakening ‘til now in bed
Still
My seconds tick away to tunes of your heartbeat

Even through those days & years
When you did not know—
I missed you then

A decade & more is enough to root a habit
You are my habit
But that knowledge pains you, doesn’t it?
For that I am so very sorry
That I can’t help missing you

Strange how you would bury
The fact that you miss me too…
