the debt of death
"To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else
is the greatest accomplishment."—Ralph Waldo Emerson
be yourself
a shining beacon
in a world of degradation:
let not the hand
of defeat
deface the countenance
of your dignity.
when trails
of trials
and crosses
cross your path,
pass them
on the other side.
let the worldly-wise,
the otherwise,
the fool,
and the foul
respect the sanctity
of your sanity.
the debt of death
the debt we pay,
the freight of fate
the fate we play,
will no longer
ever linger,
a harbinger
of prudeness,
or a slinger
of crudeness.
for bygones
are gone by
forever,
far over
the falling horizon,
confounded
and lost,
defeated
and beheaded,
by the righthanded
deftness
of swift surety
in the audience
of certain justice.
