Old Friend

Old Friend
You've been hiding
Disappearing for a time
I didn't miss you!

Conscious of you lurking
For as long as I remember
Visiting unannounced
No invitation required

Injecting dispare
Whispering negativity
Inspiring hostility
Fuelling fear

Today you called
Knocked on my door
Requested access
An old friend you reassured

Denying you entry
Rejecting your deception
But comfort I was seeking
And you fit the bill.

Your presents equals chaos
Hurt and dispare
Although you're comfortable
All facates of you I'm aware

You blind me to happiness
Confuse my mind
Shroud me in darkness
Steal my joy

It's time to stop knocking
I'm trying a new approach
You prevent forward motion
In your presents hope is lost
