OUR GOOD LOVE
i love
every piece
of you,
all that you are --
even the parts
i don't like, i love
and how is that?
that this old man
would love an old woman
so much
and see her fears
and failures
and foibles
and still call
his home heaven
and count her
among his blessings
and thank his gods
for the privilege
of these bright mornings
of good coffee
and conversation
and these things
reciprocal --
so this old man
thankful, too,
he's found
a place
in the heart
of a good
woman
every piece
of you,
all that you are --
even the parts
i don't like, i love
and how is that?
that this old man
would love an old woman
so much
and see her fears
and failures
and foibles
and still call
his home heaven
and count her
among his blessings
and thank his gods
for the privilege
of these bright mornings
of good coffee
and conversation
and these things
reciprocal --
so this old man
thankful, too,
he's found
a place
in the heart
of a good
woman
