Dressed to Suppress

Dressed to Suppress

Between
extremes
of gaining
buffered
distance,
or else
closeness
all the way,

the darkness
shone
at night
as often
plays flat
dead
all day.

And then
alive
in garb
that runs
its mouth
so right
out loud,

the images
became
the forms
experienced,
and customers
were
wowed.

Beyond
those days
where
quid pro quo
transacts
with blistered
ease,

between
the sacred
drossed
profane,
the subject
takes
her knees.

This is now
the honoring;
a
custom
is a costume
less than
dark,

and realizing
just how close
nirvana is,
a walk
here
in the park.

Author's Note
Most people want a certain thing and so they asked to be punished to get it. If you want it, it's a reward, right? No, one rewards bad behavior, true? So, what they really meant was rewardable behavior. Make me want to do what I need to do.

Stop stopping yourself, I tell myself.

Dress the way you want.  Behave how you want.

Free will.
