Disappearing Acts
it got to the point where i no
longer had to throw you under the bus
it seems you took up permanent residence
made room for both of us i suppose
as evidenced by the mutual hypocrisy
where we presumed our relationship to be a democracy
in a space of majority rules
through two schools of thought
two of a kind we are
yet so unique
each carrying our own trauma units
smooth talkers indeed..i;e. practiced bullshitters
expressed through the feminine and the masculine
like and ongoing game of freeze tag
as our foreplay takes on a different nature
with constant mental jousting
ousting one another in preferred venues
victim accusing victor of foul play
picking from a menu of emotional responses
in veined hope to regain leverage
and take the high ground
all is fair
in love and war,yes?
until one or both of us
become emotional burnouts
as the inevitable turnout turns out to be another
extended stay at ground's hog's day
been there...done that
we're so over it
over us
tired of back door politicks
we've both been lookin at the front door for quite some time
so let's kill the corny theatrics
of draggin it out and goin thru the motions
let's finish off this disappearing act
and continue on living life languishing in
our perennial blind spots
