Her Deeply Seeded Sense

Her Deeply Seeded Sense

My mistake
was in
only trusting
perfection.

I loved her
for what
I wanted her
to express.

She
turned out
to be the fruit
of a tree
I would spend
half a century
trying
to chop down.

Her forest
was hemlocks,
and the poison
was
her the roots.

But,
it was
the shadow
of her own nature
that caused
her deeply seeded
sense.
