thoughts while sharing coffee with the morning sun
tomorrow I will wake
and share coffee with
the morning sun
(I see you running across the
landscape of my memories)
dreams
and
regrets
without
egress
captured in cigarette
smoke
I remember your breath
like a warm Havana
sunset on my bare
shoulder
you laid next to me but
were hardly there
the foreign night whispered
a strange language into your
ear
and
you
went
willingly
I was foolish to think that
any less was possible
as apples
lay rotting
in a bowl
on the table
and the last poem was
written a million
years
ago
