Image for the poem Crepe Bows

Crepe Bows

The faded twilight of the stillness grows
as the moon cradles the memories
where shadows played in hawthorns
of crepe bows on the wings of doves
silencing the thistle of the piccolos
awakening the Shenandoah Valley
sweeping dusk from the sleeping eyes
