codependency

does every sin need a savior?
or our sun require the moon?
did the earth marry gravity to spin?
i don’t care then, if my mind buries your name
in its memorial graveyard
go ahead, see if i care
try me, test me
i don’t need to win
you belong here, we don’t need a
how, why, or when
independence is a friend
too bad for you, then
if a matchbox could speak, it would
over how many times you’ve set ablaze
those entitled, sappy letters
before crucifying them to your fireplace
and you’ve burned more than paper
i’ve seen it, i have felt your touch
what’s done is done, i have scars of old
and ghosts to watch over them
keeping them company, but raw for when
you try a new trick
it isn’t love, and i must be reminded
even if it hurts me every time.
