Up Here
Time is a river up here in the sky, It don’t go straight, it don’t go by. It just keeps on flowing with a mighty force, And I’m just a leaf that’s drifting along its course.
But then I behold a black hole looming in the distance, A dark and hungry beast that defies all resistance. And I sense a pull that I can’t resist, And I wonder what lies beyond the abyss.
I get closer and closer to the point of no return, And I witness the light twisting and turning. And I experience the time stretching and slowing, And I wonder what will happen to my being.
I cross the threshold and enter the black hole, And I see the world shrinking and fading. And I feel the space ripping and tearing, And I wonder if there’s anything left of my soul.
I reach the singularity where everything stops, And I see nothing and everything. And I feel nothing and everything. And I wonder if this is the end or the beginning.
I’m now looking for the Earth, that little blue speck of life In an endless and timeless view. And I’m now looking for familiar stars. Yet I feel like I’m part of something bigger out here, But lost and lonely at the same time.
Now I’m gonna take my time up here, no other choice now. I’m gonna try to enjoy every minute, now that each minute is stretched to a thousand years. I’m gonna look back at the Earth one day and see where I belong But I’m gonna sing this song to the universe along the way.
