Remembering
Remember when life didn’t feel like a
task
When it didn’t feel like a never ending
chore
When the days were enjoyed and not
dreaded
When no worries crept in your soul
Do you remember your childhood home and playing in the yard
Do you remember staying out exploring until the peak of dusk
Illuminating our fort with the fireflies that we
caught
climbing high light of heavy fear
Maybe it is I
Or maybe it’s my age
Or maybe this strange society
Has crumbled and decayed
Maybe it’s the shallow
Or the lack of depth
The fragile more expensive things
That create in us compliancy
Remembering seems far away
Perhaps from my aphantasia
I found my love
And with him came new
daydreams of our future
Yet still I remember enough
To now know that it’s harder to have them
task
When it didn’t feel like a never ending
chore
When the days were enjoyed and not
dreaded
When no worries crept in your soul
Do you remember your childhood home and playing in the yard
Do you remember staying out exploring until the peak of dusk
Illuminating our fort with the fireflies that we
caught
climbing high light of heavy fear
Maybe it is I
Or maybe it’s my age
Or maybe this strange society
Has crumbled and decayed
Maybe it’s the shallow
Or the lack of depth
The fragile more expensive things
That create in us compliancy
Remembering seems far away
Perhaps from my aphantasia
I found my love
And with him came new
daydreams of our future
Yet still I remember enough
To now know that it’s harder to have them
