Driving in the Dark

driving in the dark at night
splashing rain a constant sight
oscillating back and forth
driving south and driving north

wipers like a metronome
meditating going home
hypnotically transfixed by sound
music from the phone background

red and green lights passing through
places wrapped in darkness too
neon twinkling here and there
as rain keeps falling everywhere

windows up, defogger blows
alone at night nobody knows
who I am as I drive by
no one knows the reason why

I'm driving in the rain at night
by myself the only light
dashboard, headlights, street lamps too
driving in the rain to you...
