Crystalline
our eyes lock
and i stare, mesmerised
into those hypontic depths,
all crystalline blues and greys.
reflected back at me:
a little of myself,
the genes of many generations
and your unmistakeable uniqueness.
your eyes are complex,
mirroring both the confidence
and uncertainty of youth.
sincerity, diligence and passion
reside within,
alongside the familiar shadow
that i hoped you would escape.
what do you see
reflected in mine?
and i stare, mesmerised
into those hypontic depths,
all crystalline blues and greys.
reflected back at me:
a little of myself,
the genes of many generations
and your unmistakeable uniqueness.
your eyes are complex,
mirroring both the confidence
and uncertainty of youth.
sincerity, diligence and passion
reside within,
alongside the familiar shadow
that i hoped you would escape.
what do you see
reflected in mine?
