A Mother Grieves
dark angel consumed by goth fires of grief
Hidden deep in the camouflage
Of a searing brand
That burns the forever
Of perdition’s flames
Where her daughter’s casket lies
Heaped under Mom’s earthy tears
That rage against cruel fate
Of drunken murder on that highway
That swallowed her dreams
Like Jonah’s whale
But burning flesh
And petroleum fumes
The embalming of deathly silence
In mother’s heart lost to the quiet
When unholy mantras fill the night
With the wail of a grieving banshee

Ohhh gasp! The anguish washes over and all around... As it should, when conveying this truly unimaginable kind of loss and grief. You are such a bold and brave poet. It's this gamut of emotional poignance that makes for a stellar wordsmith.

Thank you, my friend. Her loss was mine as well since I felt I knew her daughter through her words. I remember her daughter brought me a bottle of water in the hair studio once. I took lost my 16-year-old nephew a couple of years ago so could feel the loss of one so young as her daughter. I appreciate your understanding and empathy deeply my darling friend. If only events could have been differently for Holly's daughter and she wouldn't have been where she was when that drunken driver took her young life.
