Tale of Old
Here is a tale
About a boy who would fail
On a moon far away
Stood a legend on display
Destiny was writ in stone
About a kingdom overthrown
Learning about his fate
Realising the trials beyond the gate
Knowing all would be faced
Swearing an end to the disgraced
He’d fight the curses decree
Return he couldn’t guarantee
Off to battle he did go
Following the trees shadow
Finding a den of lost time
Upon the stone was a rhyme
‘Heed my words knights of old
A truth went untold
Death will come to those who kill
The beast’s blood can never spill’
Forging ahead he did see
Bones of those who tried to flee
Yelling into a cave of night
Readying himself for the fight
The monster growled ‘leave!’
‘In fables I do not believe!’
Yelling back words were heeded
But for death the boy pleaded
Into darkness he advanced
On a dragon he glanced
Ancient dragon spoke kind
About prophecies being refined
Knowing the dragon spoke true
Friendship started new
His story now circulated
About riddles wrongly translated
Now only spirits know
This tale of long ago
