Musings
I’ve come to realize
With the passing of years
That many of my beliefs
Were nothing more than dust piles
Take religion, a pointless exercise
In being controlled or dictated to
By morally deficit white men
I say no to religion
Take life long friendships
They often wane and stagnate
When only one puts in effort
Take health, the expectation of invincibility
That the young feel is their secret
It disappears in random bursts
When it’s most missed and least expected
Take power and prestige
I never bought into that baloney
But I watched the white men preen and strut
Until their foibles were exposed in the media
Sordid, morally corrupt weaklings
I’m not sure what is left
What I believe in, I’m still pondering
With the passing of years
That many of my beliefs
Were nothing more than dust piles
Take religion, a pointless exercise
In being controlled or dictated to
By morally deficit white men
I say no to religion
Take life long friendships
They often wane and stagnate
When only one puts in effort
Take health, the expectation of invincibility
That the young feel is their secret
It disappears in random bursts
When it’s most missed and least expected
Take power and prestige
I never bought into that baloney
But I watched the white men preen and strut
Until their foibles were exposed in the media
Sordid, morally corrupt weaklings
I’m not sure what is left
What I believe in, I’m still pondering
