Empty Valentine…except
I wanted to compose
The perfect Valentine’s Day poem
To properly express
my love, care and affection
Yet lately,
words don’t fall together quite right
I come up empty-lipped
With nothing but dry tears
and sighs to offer
I wanted to prepare
The perfect image in your mind
Of my wishes & desires
In your company
But the picture wouldn’t pose
The colors bled together
Into a muddy blackened blur
And the beauty
I wished for you to see
Eluded you & me
I’m sorry
I have no Happy Valentine to offer
Still…
Could
“I LOVE YOU”
Be enough?
