Bye
I hope you've gathered the beauty I have lost
Across miles leading elsewhere
Then there and here
Across the fleeting years
When lives diverge
And spun all my memories into dreams of gold
Where flies the days
Those precious hours told
I've lost your growing into all you've become
The tale's told without telling
Becoming someone unknown
The chrysalis empty
The ghost of what was
Haunting me
Still
And I
Someone else
A standing stone
Marking only
Once this was the place
Just a castle made of sand
On a golden day
A summer's dream
Washed away
I'm not one for awkward moments of, "Remember when..?"
Or haranguing myself for what could have been
I saw you today
I saw you
And things end
I still breath
And I still live
Outside your world
Among other stars
But you didn't see me
To cast a wish
Across miles leading elsewhere
Then there and here
Across the fleeting years
When lives diverge
And spun all my memories into dreams of gold
Where flies the days
Those precious hours told
I've lost your growing into all you've become
The tale's told without telling
Becoming someone unknown
The chrysalis empty
The ghost of what was
Haunting me
Still
And I
Someone else
A standing stone
Marking only
Once this was the place
Just a castle made of sand
On a golden day
A summer's dream
Washed away
I'm not one for awkward moments of, "Remember when..?"
Or haranguing myself for what could have been
I saw you today
I saw you
And things end
I still breath
And I still live
Outside your world
Among other stars
But you didn't see me
To cast a wish
