The assault of winter

The cold wind blows
as the shivery air stomps in
clanking heavy boots and chains
against anything that stands in its way
with brute force, it blunders
leaving little air for breath

the wind shanks it's way through any signs
of sun and life and light
with immense violence
violating in an impolite manner
finger clatter
icicles shatter
as my body shakes in its fleece

Shelter is sought
warmth-a pelting sting of the rosy palm print
left upon my grimace

This chill penetrates and degrades me
down to a shaking bag of bones
Pale, and eyes sensitive due to lack of light
I sleep.......

and dream that I am cradled in the arms of spring
